Ünüsan Kuloglu
|
Born in Istanbul in 1972, Ünüsan Kuloglu attended the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory and, while still a student, performed recitals in the leading concert halls of Istanbul, including Turkey's most prestigious venue, the Cemal Resid Rey Concert Hall. He also appeared at the Casa d'Italia, the Austrian and German Embassy Halls, and the Ataturk Cultural Center, as well as making his operatic debut as Guglielmo in Mozart's "Cosí fan Tutte."
In 1998, Kuloglu received his Undergraduate Degree with Honors and, the same year, won the National Auditions of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet and joined the company. Also in 1998, he began graduate studies at the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatorium, where he has been the vocal coach for the acting department since 1999.
In 2000, Kuloglu performed a recital for Turkish Radio-Ankara that was broadcast throughout Europe and has since performed and recorded lieder programs for Turkish radio and television. The same year, Kuloglu won Special Auditions at the 3rd Leyla Gencer Singing Competition, and was thereby invited to Milan to participate in summer seminars and master classes. The following year, he prevailed over 14 other baritones as the only baritone finalist in the Siemens National Young Singers Competition.
Kuloglu gave two concerts in Moscow in June of 2001 at the Zelinograd European-Russian Young Artists Music Festival. His recital featured lieder and Russian romances, and he appeared as soloist with the Festival Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Shadrin.
